Funny how you get weird ideas into your head and want to try something but don't know if anyone will enjoy it. Even weirder when you start talking with your friends and find out that they have similar ideas in their head they've been trying to figure out how to convey.
That's what happened with Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret.
I used to half-joke and half seriously want to throw a dance party which celebrated all the hot aspects of sexuality and played all songs about sex. I mean, it's not like that's all that difficult to put together a playlist when so much music is about crushing, love, sex, attraction, obsession and so on. But I had no idea how to go about doing it, and was a little nervous/shy about throwing a party like this myself ... lest someone get the wrong idea. Not that I can't be all freaky or whatever, but I just didn't want everyone in the world to know or automatically assume "SLUT" by me doing this on my own. Chatty Cathy and DJ SAT 1600 had also talked about doing a night like this but never got around to booking it.
So one fateful day it happened we were all together talking about it and decided to do it. We made giveaways and had raffles. We got sponsorship from Planned Parenthood, who were kind enough to donate some condoms, dental dams, lubes and other stuff. Attendees could pay $1 to kiss a dj. We made a steamy NC-17 rated film to play in the background and lots of different props decorating the bar, including a MakeOut Booth. And that was Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret. We want to book another one sometime in the future.
