In June of 1995, I made a visit to Madrid to see my college roommate, Julie. While I was there, I met this very handsome Spanish gentlemen, who took it upon himself to show me around the country a bit. We went to castles in the countryside, a shoe museum, a dance-party midnight drive to Valencia & Benidorm, stole lemons and oranges from an orchard at 3am in the middle of the Spanish farmland, and even toured the Wax Museum in Madrid. But the highlight of our (short-lived) travels together was probably this trip to Barcelona. We had the most horrible bus ride (they blasted "In the Name of the Father" dubbed in Spanish at 2am, and it was very bumpy and smelled like B.O.) on the way there... but every second of this city was fabulous. I snuck in this shot as we rested at like 7:30am (fresh off the bus) and watched the sun rise over the Cathedral of Barcelona. |
