not always hearts & flowers

acrylic on canvas with collage & wire

| I was kind of in a bitter, pissed off mood when I thought up the idea for this one. The canvas I painted on was mounted on some kind of cardboard (I was lazy and didn't stretch it myself) which had gotten wet and warped. I decided I liked the effect of the warping, since sometimes that's how we are: all bent out of shape and generally kind of messed up. It is sort of in keeping with the idea of the painting, which shows a person crying, and little flowers and hearts. Yeah, you can't always get who you want, and sometimes they keep coming back to screw up your life even more if you let them. Oh well. That's what this one is about. No huge surprises or prophetic statements. We all get let down and disappointed sometimes. I almost called this one disappointment but that didn't seem right. |
