Yeah, this is one of those paintings with an autobiographical basis... so what? the original photo was a tiny little polaroid from when I was a little girl. That was me on the far right at age 8, as a goofy little girl with a bowl haircut. We are supposed to be angels for the class making their first Holy Communion. It's a hot day in May.

Why did I paint it? Looking at the photo, we looked like little porcelain dolls, the sun was so bright and the colors were so vibrant.
people who look at this usually think there is something unusual or strange about how we are standing, how the trees are behind us, maybe something just isn't quite right but they don't know what. Whatever. Draw your own conclusions, that's what people do anyway.
