the last saturday of the month at La Tazza 108 is the new monthly brainchild of Sean O'Neal (of Flowchart fame) called HOLOGRAM. Previous episodes have featured the lovely flavors of Mall, Octorock, Transient, and other luminaries of Philly and nearby delicious original electronic music, as well as Sean O'Neal, Erin Anderson and the whole Fuzzybox/tbtmo crew taking turns mixing tracks in when they can. each 2nd & 4th Tuesday at 700 is Slipping into Sublimnity ... it's free, it's fun and it mixes dj sets with live musicians. Stop by for your bi-monthly dose of ambient/experimental/improv. You might wanna keep coming back for more...

every other Thursday at the Khyber Upstairs, Maura & Maria DJ. FREE!

One thursday a month, Sara Sherr hostesses and picks bands for SUGARTOWN, a lady-centric fantasy world where everything is good and girls rock out on stage (instead of being stuck in the kitchen). check out some free electronic music at the foundation at the rotunda (university city) once a month. it's ALL-AGES as well! 4012 chestnut street. gate to moonbase alpha is the official name and the exact date is a little variable. for details and line-ups, hit the Philadelphia Ambient Consortium. (SOrry - this is only during the schoolyear)

the Grape Street Pub in the Manayunk section of Philly has open mic nights every Monday. Free... Sign up between 9 and 10pm. Music starts sometime around 9:30/10ish. Usually hosted by local guy, Ben Arnold ... the Gryphon Cafe in Wayne, PA has its open mic on Monday also, hosted by the Love Syndicate. I hear they're really great, so check them out sometime.

the Media Bureau is a local online broadcasting co. which hosts real-time events of live music, interviews and more... Check out their weekly schedule for interesting things that you don't want to miss.

Sunday:
Loud N Local hosted by Tommy Conwell on WYSP, 94. (94.1) starts around 10pm and goes for an hour, Tommy features local loud bands, including hardcore, rock, punk and anything not wussy.
Y-Not hosted by Dan Fein on Y100 (100.3), local segment runs 45 mins-1 hr. and usually starts around 10 or so.

You all know about First Friday, right? Next one September 1, 2000. ... The fringe fest is scheduled for September 1 - 16th. Look for lots of good shit to be happening!
